TRANSFORMING HEALTHCARE

Pensieve Health is a large scale longitudinal biomedical database and research laboratory containing in depth genetic and health information from more than 100,000 participants.

What makes us different

BioBharat, a Pensieve Health project aims to have the richest and largest de-identified Electronic Medical records and linked bio-specimen repository to target the Indian population and develop a comprehensive database to contribute the world genomic data in order to represent the Indian population. This approach of ours is paired with scientific and clinical expertise from various fields to guide us through our work.

About Pensieve Health

Genomics is one of the fastest developing research areas in the world today. A lot of research has been done to cure many serious and deadly disease across the world. However, the medicines that are being developed are not only expensive, but have different varied outcomes in terms of treatments based on the genetic make up of the patients which vary from person to person. This differences in outcome of the treatment, is seen more among the Indian population due to the difference in the genetic make up.

Pensieve Health, an ISO 20387: 2018 laboratory, founded in 2018, aim, to reduce the gap between these differences by taking up the translation research. We aim to collect the longitudinal data of the medical history and the medicines that are being taken by the patients in order to determine the drug response based on the genetic make up. This will pave the pathway to the formation of a New Era of healthcare in the country. We strive to achieve the norms of ISO with respect to safety and efficacy in the services we provide. Our aim is to continuously improve our contribution to the ongoing field of translational research and development. The data generated from the biobank will catalyse the precision and predictive medicine. We at Pensieve welcome your blood samples with your valuabe consent to precede the challenges in personalised healthcare.

  Vision

To establish a biobank to represent Indian database to achieve prognostic and diagnostic precision and intelligence for personalised healthcare.

  Mission

To be the centre of excellence to provide quality and standardised collection, storage and analysis of human DNA and plasma along with clinical records for bio medical research and development directed towards advancement of precision medicine.

  Values

To conduct high quality ethical investigations and practices as per regulatory framework to enable translational research.

Disease Cohorts

COVID-19

SARS COVID 19 which has struck the world in 2019-2020, is taking toll on many lives and affecting many families. Molecular testing of SARS COVID-19 is the need of an hour. We wish to contribute the health community by molecular testing as well as gathering data in order to do some translational research on COVID-19 and co-morbidities.

Diabetes

India is the diabetic capital of the world expecting to hit the mark of 69.9 million cases of diabetes by 2025. About 10% of the younger generation is suffering from Diabetes in India. In order to address this, we aim at studying the genetic pattern of the diabetes amongst the Indians in order to predict the kind of treatment to be given to the patients.

Cardiovascular Diseases

One of the common diseases. CVD is prevalent upto 13.2% in urbanand 7.4% in rural areas. One in 4 deaths is due to stroke, ischemic heart disease, etc which makes it very important to take CVD seriously. Along with lifestyle, genetics plays an important role in developing such diseases that is why population gentics in India has become an area of interest

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

Although, not very common in India, approximately about 1 million people are diagnosed with IBD in India. There is very limited information/ data on IBD in India , however it is estimated there are increasing cases in India and an in depth study to predict the disease and give precise treatment would be interesting.

Renal Function

Chronic Kidney Disease, UTI, Glomerular Nephritis, UTI, Kidney stones are one of the most common Renal function diseases seen. In India, the rate of Renal function disorder is about 800 per million. Chronic Kidney Disease is seen as one of the complications in the diabetic patients, however, the exact estimation of it is not yet clear. It is important to address this growing issue in order to prevent any complications and improve the quality of life

Mental Health

As a part of the fast competitive moving life , stress, sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical exercise has not only lead to health complications but also has affected the mental health. It is estimated that 7.5% of the inidan population suffers from anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders. Also, it is estimated that the numbers may grow to 20% by the end of the year. If we can relate the genetic makeup, the nutrientd from the food that affect the genetic makeup and the lifestyle changes, then we could help reduce the stress levels and hence the mental disorders in the population.

Cancer

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death, accounting foer 10 million deaths in the year 2020. Lung and Breast cancers are the most common type of cancers all over the world. In India, breast, cervical and oral cancers are one of the leading cancers. Although, much of research and treatment options are out by the scientists, the human race is still fighting to prevent cancers in invading their lives. We aim to study the genes and their treatment pattern in order to move a step towards precision medicine

Research

Pensieve Health conducted a year long study on the Covid -19 affected patients in India in collaboration with Vibrent Health. Recruitment was of those participants who had previously suffered from Covid-19 infection and they were interviewed based on a scientifically designed questionnaire by our expert team. After recruiting 12,000 participants, a rigorous follow up was taken every month for these participants in order to monitor their health status for 11 months. This research has been published in Nature. Other findings are in pipeline for further publication.
